First use a pencil to draw a circle with Exlicon MX by placing the hole of Exlicon MX base piece on top of the center of the circle. Then use a pencil on the ruler to draw a flawless circle. 

Mark 6 evenly spaced points along the circumference. Use the protractor function of Exlicon MX to do this. Place the base piece of Exlicon MX on the center and mark points along the circumference such that each point is 60 degrees apart from the previous one.

Use the 6 points drawn as the center for more circles. Draw six more circles such that they have the same radius as the first circle. 

Use a pencil to draw lines projecting outward from the center of the central circle. The six new lines should be evenly spaced among each other and should line up with the center of the side circles. 

These new lines will act as a support line for you to draw more lines, shapes and patterns. Connect the point (where the new line hits the exterior arc of the side circle) to the two circles next to the specific side circle. This produces a shard shape. Repeat for all the six side circles.
